REPORTING BACK FROM BELGIUM

well I am completely knackered after the sojourn to brussels with mollywood. as you can see in the picture of my little kitchen this was the scene that greeted my upon my return and i have to admit - it is a week later, and it is all still sitting there. and it is really minging.

mollywood and i met at liverpool street station and got the train to stansted where i ended up in a big argument with some woman cause she really banged her luggage trolley into the back of my ankle. i called "thank you!" after her and she turned around all tough saying "what?!?!" mollywood said "you ran the trolley into her" and the woman started going off on one about how we were in an airport and so what if she ran into me. molly and i were laughing and calling out to her "calm down love" and this woman was getting all red in the face and upset. i guess she hadn't flown much before and was all a bit tense. i was feeling pretty grizzly before i got to the airport anyway - and this woman was my trigger. after that i was ready to hit anyone.

we caught the plane and ended up in brussels. we waited for the promoter for an hour and a half..... so we called mr S.O.S.oby and we waited at the train station for him to come and get us.

my hero / mon monsieur
i met soby the first time i went to brussels. well i introduced myself to him when i was there. and we had problems to understand one another - he was shy talking english and my french is terrible. also he had to sit on the table where the decks were to stop the turntable vibrating while zoopsie djed and it was right near a speaker so it was really loud. his dj name is daryl frigobox and he keeps his records in a frigobox! anyway - i waited nearly a month for him to email me and we started some internet chatting and i am so glad that we did cause he - along with his crew - really saved mollywood's and my asses in belgium. they gave us somewhere to sleep and showed us around brussells and for that we are sooo greatful!!!! we went to a really great beer place that has apparently 600 different beers. molly got so excited about her honey beer [it really tasted like honey] that she knocked her glass over and all the beer when down soby's jeans.

and this is where we slept in brussels [the monitors are our pillows]

hohoho

not really.

we slept in soby's flatmate daniel's room. molly spent the whole time freezing in bed - i tried to warm her with the flash of my camera but she was feeling a little camera shy - unless she was wearing a mexican wrestlers mask!

there was a big street carnival in the middle of brussels. it was also the time of a jazz festival there so all the streets were rammed with people drinking and dancing and jumping about. the streets were more crowed than oxford street on christmas eve. the wind was quite gusty and there were people walking on stilts - i was suprised that they did not fall over cause their clothes were like big sails. soby was trying to take us record shopping and there were big problems getting from one side of the road to the other. i got a bruce haack record i have wanted for ages and the 7" of insomniac.

it was really great to be in brussels again and to meet my friends there and make friends with more people there. now i have a belgian crew. it is nice!!

also the second record shops in brussels that i went to were incredible. my belgian friends were saying "this shop is expensive" but the stuff that was in there was is really good condition like all 2nd hand records in other countries - why do english people trash their records?] and also a lot of 7". the juke box shop on boulevard anspach was amazing and i am really looking forward to going there again. the man was really nice too and he said i was the first tasmania customer he ever had. i found some records i really wanted - another copy of "everything starts with an e" after molly broke the other one, "you're my magician" lime, "super freak" rick james [with picture cover] and the AWESOME AWESOME "breakdance" by kevin moran. with his SH101 he looks like a blonde ed dmx!!

anyway - now i am in love with brussels and in love with my new friends there - soby, jimmy, bruno, frederico, charles, sarah and all the others i met!
